Butterfly Transect Volunteer (Browne's Folly)
We are looking for volunteers to help with undertaking UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS) transects across some of our reserves. Prior experience in butterfly identification is helpful but not required – training in how to undertake the transect will be provided and there will be the opportunity to learn from experienced volunteers.
Transects are walked weekly from April to September and typically take around 45 minutes to an hour. Note that the surveys are very weather dependent, so flexibility to be able get out and survey when conditions are suitable is important. While we do not expect any one surveyor to undertake all of them, having good availability throughout the survey period would be beneficial.
